Novato man sentenced in Hamilton hit-and-run case
Robert Armond Lombardi, 74, fled after his car struck a 19-year-old woman on Main Gate Road, police said.
A Novato man received a nine-month sentence Thursday for a hit-and-run collision that injured a 19-year-old pedestrian in the Hamilton neighborhood.
Robert Armond Lombardi, 74, was arrested in December. Police said he fled after his car struck the victim on Main Gate Road near the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit station. Paramedics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
Investigators identified the car and Lombardi with the help of surveillance footage provided by SMART. Lombardi was booked on hit-and-run and drug-related counts. Police said he had methamphetamine and paraphernalia when they arrested him.
Lombardi pleaded guilty to a hit-and-run charge, said Deputy District Attorney Brian Roberts. Judge Geoffrey Howard sentenced Lombardi on Thursday morning in accordance with the negotiated plea. Howard also placed him on probation for two years.
Lombardi was ordered to begin his sentence in August. He can apply to serve the time out of custody while wearing a Global Positioning System tracker.
