A BIZARRE all-terrain EV created by a former Jaguar designer that can be fast-charged in less than ten minutes is set for a UK release.
The Callum Skye looks like a buggy from the latest big budget sci-fi movie rather than a car you can actually buy.
The Skye is the brainchild of Ian Callum, the former head of design at Jaguar.
Ian’s creation was unveiled to the world on Wednesday at Concours on Savile Row in London.
The Skye, which looks like something from Mad Max, can go from zero to 62mph in just four seconds.
The high tech beast can be charged up in just 10 minutes and has a range of around 170 miles.
Although prices start at around £80,000, it will certainly get lots of attention in the supermarket car park.
And the mad motor is also suitable for the school run, with a couple of kids’ seats on the back row.
Customers can choose between a purely off-road motor or a road legal version which will certainly turn heads.
David Fairbairn, managing director at Callum, describes Skye as ‘bold, beautifully engineered and crafted with refinement and craftsmanship’.
He said: “Compact, capable and extremely beautiful, we’re confident that this representation of the Skye exterior will turn heads, as we invite those interested in commissioning a Callum Skye to reserve their build slot.”
The manufacturer said: “The CALLUM SKYE engineered to offer an exhilarating and rewarding driving experience both on- and off-road, SKYE has been crafted to ensure the utmost capability, refinement and beauty for discerning adventurers.
“As an all-electric vehicle, it’s powered by a 42kWh battery with anticipated range of 170 miles, with the option to specify an ultra-fast charging battery for full charge in under ten minutes.
“Measuring 4,047mm in length and 1,900mm in width, and weighing just 1,150kg, it boasts sportscar performance with 0-60mph achieved in under four seconds.”
Ian is also the man behind some of the world’s most beautiful cars , such as the Aston Martin DB7, DB9, Vanquish and the Jaguar F-Type.
Chatting to The Sun a couple of years ago, the guru said: “I feel very privileged when I see that list.
“My involvement in each one is varied but I do feel a genuine sense of responsibility for their existence. Every car has a story.”
