Donald Trump announces peace deal which will see Israel halt its annexation of Palestine
Donald Trump has announced a groundbreaking peace deal which will see Israel stop its annexation of Palestine. The President of the United States shared the agreement on Twitter Thursday afternoon, and revealed that Israel had agreed a truce with the United Arab Emirates.
Trump tweeted: ‘HUGE breakthrough today! Historic Peace Agreement between our two GREAT friends, Israel and the United Arab Emirates!’
The full details of the agreement, as shared by Trump, say that ‘Israel will suspend declaring sovereignty over areas outlined in the President’s Vision for Peace and focus its efforts on expanding ties with other countries in the Arab and Muslim world.’
That agreement – jointly signed by Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and UAE Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed – will see Israel and the United Arab Emirates sign bilateral agreements on issues including tourism, investment, direct flights and security.
Trump’s agreement said scientists in Israel and the UAE will now join forces to try and develop a coronavirus vaccine.
Both countries were branded ‘reliable’ US allies, with Trump now hopeful the alliance will help forge better relationships with other countries in the Middle East.
Israel had sparked international condemnation over its efforts to expand its territory into Occupied Palestine Territories, with other governments branding the expansion efforts in breach of international law.

Israel is widely-believed to have created a stash of nuclear weapons to offer insurance against an invasion, but has never publicly admitted to their existence.
