The first team of the Russian national ski team was deprived of the third place in the relay race at the World Cup stage in Lahti, Finland for the unsporting behavior of Alexander Bolshunov, the International Ski Federation reported. Thus, the athletes (Alexey Chervotkin, Evgeny Belov, Denis Spitsov and Bolshunova) lost their bronze medal.
At the finish line, Finnish skier Yoni Mäki got in the way of the Russian, after which Alexander Bolshunov waved his stick towards the opponent. After the finish, Bolshunov crashed into Myaki.
Team Norway won Sunday’s race. The Finnish national team became the second. After the disqualification of Alexander Bolshunov, the second team of the Russian national team (Ilya Semikov, Ivan Yakimushkin, Andrey Melnichenko and Sergey Ustyugov) rose to the third line.
