A new film from Quentin Tarantino is usually an event all by itself, but as we know, with "The Hateful Eight" he's hoping to deliver the kind of cinematic experience audiences haven't had on a grand scale in quite some time, by promising to present the movie in 70mm. His pal Paul Thomas Anderson beat him to the punch for the idea a few years back with "The Master," but 70mm screenings were largely at special events or in the few cinemas that still had the projection capabilities. However, Tarantino is working to ensure "The Hateful Eight" will have a few more screens to show the movie as he intended.
THR reports that they're hearing Panavision is working to equip approximately 50 U.S. cinemas so that they show "The Hateful Eight" in 70mm. "He really wants to get people back into theaters.
