To our CNS family,

Yes, we are still here. Our track has not been sold or permanently closed, and we have not given up on racing in 2020. We are grateful to all of you who have expressed your support, and remain committed to going racing in some form yet this summer.

The lack of information from CNS has been due to a lack of information from the authorities who decide if and when events can resume. CNS is under pressure from both State and Local authorities to remain closed, and we have made the decision to focus our resources on surviving the lockdown instead of fighting a battle against governmental authorities with unlimited budgets.

The current “Safer at Home” directive which bans gatherings of 10 or more people in both public spaces and private commercial venues (that’s us) remains in place until May 27 (tomorrow). At that time, we are hoping for more guidance on when and how we will be able to open up and get back to some kind of racing, and we will be releasing an updated schedule soon thereafter.

Based on what we have seen thus far, it is unrealistic to expect that spectators will be allowed their freedoms anytime soon. We are aware that the Governor recently stated that he was excited for baseball to resume without fans in the stands in the coming weeks. Giant corporate sponsorships and television revenue sharing deals make it possible for the big leagues to run without income. For us, it’s simply not possible. CNS is incredibly lucky to have some amazing sponsors who have stuck with us throughout this tragedy; yet despite their continuing support we simply cannot afford the cost of racing (staffing + fire + ambulance + Officials + Security + Tech + water + electricity + insurance and so on) and still pay a Driver’s purse.

With that in mind, we would like to ask for all Drivers to email us (tech@coloradospeedway.com) with their thoughts on potentially running a few races with either a drastically reduced purse, or no purse at all. Entrance would be restricted to Drivers and Crew on the pit side only. We realize that this is less than ideal, but to be completely honest, it is the only way we can afford to put on a race without any revenue from fans in the stands.

Over the years, Colorado National Speedway has weathered some very difficult storms; but never one so hard as this. What you need to know is that it is the love of our Drivers, Teams, Families, Fans, Superfans, and the unconditionally dedicated staff that keeps this facility alive. Stay positive, stick with us, and when the State comes to its’ senses, we will be here – ready to race again.
