For the last few summers, Rockstar Games has introduced chunky new updates for Grand Theft Auto 5. These content drops are often among the most exciting things Rockstar does with GTA 5 all year long. So, while Grand Theft Auto 6 didn't make an appearance at E3 this year, fans of the franchise still have plenty to look forward to.
While Rockstar hasn't provided a confirmed time for this update, there are a few hints that help point at least to a release window. That likely means Red Dead Online fans will get an update in late June or early July, given Rockstar's usual release schedule. Traditionally, both of these online franchises are given some breathing room, so it's unlikely the updates will come at the same time. Therefore, the best current guess for when Grand Theft Auto 5's summer update will release is in late July or early August. That matches up with last year's August 11 release, giving the assumption a little more credibility, but it's worth repeating that this is mostly speculation. The true timeline for the summer update won't be known until Rockstar decides to officially tell fans when its coming.
Regardless of when the update does finally release, fans of Grand Theft Auto 5 have plenty to anticipate. Rockstar has promised several new vehicles, new race types, and "multi-part robbery missions" as just the tip of the iceberg.
