Shrinking Show Starring Jason Segel In Development With Ted Lasso Creators
Jason Segel will star in Shrinking, a new comedy series for Apple TV+ from Ted Lasso co-creators Brett Goldstein and Bill Lawrence.
A new comedy series starring Jason Segel is coming to Apple TV+ from the creators of Ted Lasso. Showrunners Brett Goldstein and Bill Lawrence recently celebrated a major awards season for Ted Lasso, with the freshman comedy series racking up a whopping 20 Emmy nominations this year. The show just recently wrapped up its second season and is heading for a third. But Goldstein and Lawrence are expanding their collaboration even further outside of the established series.
Variety reports that Apple has greenlit a new series from Goldstein and Lawrence titled Shrinking. Seel will portray a rebellious therapist who forgoes his professional ethics by telling his clients exactly what he thinks. He's going through some grieving as well, and through his unconventional messages, he actually helps completely transforming the lives of his clients and himself.
Shrinking has been approved for 10 episodes to start with and Apple has yet to announce a release date. It will be Segel's second project with the streaming giant, as he's set to star in Apple's upcoming film The Sky Is Everywhere. Segel will serve as a writer and executive producer for Shrinking alongside Goldstein and Lawrence.
Sports series Ted Lasso has taken the streaming world by storm, becoming one of the most popular comedies out right now. Goldstein also stars in the show as Roy Kent, a role that won him an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Considering the dark subject matter and A-list lead, Shrinking sounds like it will be another unconventional comedy for subscribers to fall in love with.
