Wheel of Fortune Contestants Infuriate Twitter After Missing Obvious Answer
Wheel of Fortune contestants have infuriated Twitter fans after continuously failing to guess the obvious answer "Another Feather In Your Cap"
Wheel of Fortune contestants have infuriated Twitter fans after continuously missing an obvious answer. Wheel of Fortune is a game show which has existed on television in some form or other since January of 1975. The show, created by Merv Griffin, features a competition where contestants must solve word puzzles similar to those in the game "Hangman" in order to win cash prizes and bonuses determined by a giant spinning wheel. Wheel of Fortune ranks as the longest running syndicated game show in the United States, and as of 2019 has had over 7000 episodes taped and aired.
Just like any popular series currently running, Wheel of Fortune has developed a large fan base on Twitter. Game shows like Wheel of Fortune could be argued to require a certain amount of yelling at the television to be full enjoyed, and since the rise of social media, fans have found that they don't have to yell alone. This can be incredibly cathartic, as every once in a while, there are some moments where the answer to the Wheel of Fortune puzzle is so obvious to everyone watching except the contestants. It's relatively well known that the live audience watching the show is told to suppress any reaction to the guesses made by contestants, but the folks at home can react all they want, and these days Twitter takes the brunt of their anger.
Viewers have recently taken to Twitter to express their anger after Huff Post editor Philip Lewis posted a particularly painful clip of Wheel of Fortune. In the clip, the contestants have almost completed an entire phrase, with the board reading "Another Feather _n Yo_r _a_." Almost immediately after seeing this, most would jump to the conclusion that the phrase is "Another Feather In Your Cap." Not these contestants however. In fact, they guess almost everything under the sun except the correct answer, until they are reduced to guessing individual letters. Naturally, Twitter users were infuriated watching the clip, with one user pointing out how controlled the audience must have been to not be roaring with laughter the whole time. A contestant did finally get the answer right, however it was only after two full minutes of wrong guesses and two more letters added to the board. See the original Tweet below:

Amongst the comments on the tweet, many users can be found reminiscing about their favorite painful moments on Wheel of Fortune. Many have called back to a moment in one of the show's earlier seasons in which the contestants had to guess "It Takes One To Know One" with only the first letter missing, and yet could still not get the right answer, opting instead for "E.T. Takes One To Know One." This eventually devolved into people just posting clips of infuriating moments from other game shows, leading to a very entertaining yet concerning thread.
Ultimately, thanks to Lewis's tweet, many fans found their irritation towards the contestants vindicated. The answer to the word puzzle was ultimately incredibly obvious to what seems like everyone except the group of people who happened to be on the show. Naturally, it's always infuriating to watch someone dance around the right answer, especially when money is on the line. However, maybe one day one of these angry Twitter users will find themselves on Wheel of Fortune, and they will get to prove themselves by taking home the big prize.
