A WINE aficionado claims to have the answer for anyone who gets a headache the morning after enjoying some.
She said her trusted wine wand – a tool meant to reduce the number of sulfites in wine – is the solution.
The woman, who calls herself @chiaseed_o online, showed herself stirring a glass of 2019 Catena Malbec red wine in a video and wrote: “Forever ditching sulfites & wine headaches.”
In the comment section of the video, she claimed to buy wine wands from Amazon and Total Wine.
A box of wine wands, officially called The Wand, sold online at Total Wine, costs $20 for a set of 10 wands.
The tools’ description reads: “The Wand Wine Purifier removes histamines and sulfites from all red and white wines.
“Alleviates the symptoms of wine allergies, including headaches, congestion, skin flush, and hangovers.
“Purifies and aerates one glass of wine.”

And while sulfites aren’t 100 percent to blame for headaches, they can cause allergies in people and give them hangover-like symptoms.
The wands are disposable, and one wand is meant for just one glass of wine.
To use it, wine drinkers are supposed to let it sit in their filled wine glass for three minutes and then swirl it around before removing it altogether.
While the wands don’t promise to prevent any and all hangovers, there are dozens of online reviews that give them the green light.
“No more histamine rashes and sulfite headaches!
“The Pure Wine Purifier allows me to enjoy my favorite wines and has absolutely no effect on the flavor of any type of wine,” one satisfied wine drinker said in a review under the product on Total Wine’s site.
“This really works!” another exclaimed.
“In addition to this being a fantastic product, it is brilliantly packaged so you can put a wand in your purse for when you go out to dinner!
“If you, or someone you love, tends to get wine headaches, buy this product right now!!!”
Furthermore, media coverage of the product seems positive.
A wine enthusiast told CBS News in 2017 that The Wand worked for her.
“I didn’t have a hangover or a headache the next day.
“It was like I only had one or two glasses of wine, which was wonderful,” she noted.
Of course, this product does not promise to remove the alcohol level from wine, which Dr. McNairn told Health magazine is what really causes headaches.
So, the best way to make sure you avoid a hangover is to simply slow your intake of alcohol.
