[Women's Soccer] Lewis tabbed KCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
WICHITA, Kan. – In the midst of a scintillating team defensive stretch, Friends University sophomore defender Kylie Lewis has been voted as the KCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced today (Oct. 3).
This marks the third straight week and fifth time overall this season that a Falcon defensive player has claimed the league's top weekly honor.
"Kylie is a big leader for us in our back line," said Friends women's soccer head coach Brent Hobson. "We've done well in conference so far and have only conceded one goal and she's a big reason for that."
Lewis fueled an overwhelming defensive effort this past week for the Falcons, playing all 90 minutes in both matches and contributing to a stifling performance of just one goal allowed in the combined two outings.
A native of McKinney, Texas, Lewis has been a key factor in the Falcons allowing just one goal in the last 573 minutes that includes five shutouts in the past six matches.
Lewis and the Falcons will next play at McPherson College Saturday evening (Oct. 8), with kickoff set for 5:30 pm in McPherson, Kan.
