Friday sunny morning waves
Hello Friends,
Waist to chest high on sets at Dee Why this morning. Looking slightly autumnal, what with the light offshore breeze, fun looking little swell and sunny skies after yesterday’s downpours. Swell at sea was 1.5 metres at 12 seconds and coming from the SSE. Tide was coming in after the low at 0545. It’ll be a moderate 1.6 m high at noon. The clean surface conditions will gradually go away as the wind swings more to the NE and picks up into a standard issue 15-20 kt summer NEr. There is just one problem for those contemplating a surf – Beachwatch basically reports possible pollution to likely pollution at all beaches south of Avalon as a result of yesterday’s run-off. Personally I’ll be skipping the opportunity to pick up an interesting infection from the water. Gotta let the sun cook those nasties for a day at least, I reckon.

Weather Situation
Southeasterly to northeasterly winds currently extend along the coast with a high pressure ridge over the southern Tasman Sea and Tropical Cyclone Gabrielle over the southern Coral Sea. The north to northeasterly winds are likely to become strong on Saturday south from about the Hunter. A second low pressure trough will bring a southerly change to southern and central parts of the coast on Sunday, stalling near Seal Rocks.

- 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2.5 metres during the afternoon.

- Southerly around 1 metre.

- Winds
- North to northeasterly 20 to 30 knots shifting south to southwesterly 15 to 20 knots during the morning then tending south to southeasterly during the afternoon.
- Seas
- 2 to 3 metres, decreasing to 1 to 2 metres during the morning.
- 1st Swell
- Northeasterly below 1 metre, increasing to 1.5 to 2.5 metres during the morning.
- 2nd Swell
- Southerly around 1 metre, increasing to 1.5 metres during the evening.

- Sunny morning. The chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening.
