Fr8Tech Unveils Tool to Match Carriers and Shippers

Shipping company Freight Technologies (Fr8Tech) says it wants to help shippers find the right carriers.

The Houston company has debuted a new update to its platform that helps commercial trucking firms use logistics and transportation technology to move freight throughout North America, with a focus on cross-border shipping, Fr8Tech said in a Thursday (Feb. 16) news release.

“The update includes several new features and improvements, such as better real-time tracking and monitoring of shipments, which will allow shippers to see exactly where their freight is at all times and to receive notifications if there are any delays or issues,” the release said.

In addition, the update offers a rating system for carriers that lets shippers “compare the performance of multiple carriers” to make informed decisions about which ones to pick.

“The new features and improvements will make it easier for shippers to move their freight, and it will also benefit carriers and drivers by connecting them with shippers looking to move their freight,” Javier Selgas, CEO of Freight Technologies, said in the release.

PYMNTS looked at the relationships between shippers and carriers recently with Royce Neubauer, founder and CEO of Auto Hauler Exchange.

“We’ve been in vehicle logistics for a few years now, and throughout that time I’ve seen a lot of fragmentation and inefficiencies on how shippers and carriers are sourcing each other — it’s almost like one hand doesn’t know the other hand exists at times,” he told PYMNTS.

As PYMNTS wrote, Auto Hauler Exchange is the first digital marketplace of its kind in the vehicle logistics sector, automating the complicated workflows of the vehicle logistics ecosystem by connecting large and small vehicle haulers directly with vehicle shippers, cutting out the middleman and knocking down historical industry silos that often led to carriers driving so-called “empty miles” with empty space on their vehicles.

“I just never could understand why that trailer wasn’t full,” Neubauer said. “But a lot of shippers work with a small pod of large carriers, and the problem is there are too many opportunities for a lot of these carriers to actually handle — while at the same time, you have tens of thousands of carriers out there desperately looking for these opportunities.”

Fr8Tech’s new update comes a few weeks after the company formed a partnership with Mexico-based Majoba Logistics.

The collaboration sees Majoba onboarding its fleet to Freight Technologies’ Fr8App platform, allowing them to provide a broader range of products and services to their customers.
