I’m a grandmother in my 60s – women tell me to ‘dress my age’ and stop ‘trying to go back in time,’ but I don’t care
A TRENDY grandmother has responded to the trolls criticizing her for dressing like a young party girl.
Telling her to dress her age won’t ever convince her to style outfits like a “little old lady.”
TikTok grandma Kathy posted a video to respond to trolls who criticize her style as a woman in her 60s[/caption]Kathy (@notyourgrandmasover60) posted a video to explain why she loves to wear statement sparkly jewelry and animal print clothing.
The style lover isn’t oblivious to others saying her fashion sense is inappropriate for a woman her age.
She has refused to acknowledge the haters — until now.
A crude TikTok user left a comment on her page, insisting that Kathy wasn’t comfortable with her age based on how she dressed.
The troll wrote: “I’m 65 years old. When I was in my 20s, I partied and dressed in clothes like your second outfit.
“I’m a grandmother now. I’m content with my age. I don’t need to go back in time and try to be young again.”
Kathy was perplexed by the woman’s words. “This proves to me why so many people have a certain mindset,” she said.
The mindset Kathy is referring to: “Dressing your age.”
But she doesn’t believe in that.
Kathy thought this mindset caused more confusion for women trying to figure out their style and individuality.
“Even when I was younger, I dress like I dress now,” Kathy admitted.
The confident grandmother donned dangly rectangle earrings to match a studded choker necklace with a cheetah print jacket.
Kathy associates “grandmother fashion” with what a “little old lady” who lived in her neighborhood used to wear.
“That was just never a look to me,” she said.
“If I was trying to be young again like I was in my 20s, I would be depressed. I would be drunk all of the time. So, you’re wrong.”
The TikTok creator is always focused on being the best version of herself.
And transforms into a different style for her than for other women her age.
She concluded: “You, do you. But let me and the rest of the women in the country who want to be fashionable… let us do us.”
Supporters filled the comment section of Kathy’s videos with words of encouragement.
“Being content with your age doesn’t mean completely giving up on having any style. You look fabulous,” a sweet fan noted.
Another woman wrote: “Girl… I’m 82… I’ll dress any way I want to. Love your outfits, all of them!”
