Countryfile viewers brand show ‘unwatchable rubbish’ as they rage ‘what has the BBC done?!’ after latest episode
COUNTRYFILE viewers branded the show “unwatchable rubbish” as they ripped into the BBC asking “what has the BBC done?!” in the latest episode.
Ahead of Mental Health Awareness Week, Charlotte Smith traveled to the Roseland Peninsula in Cornwall to visit Chaos Farm, which stands for Community Helping All of Society.
Charlotte met the farm’s founder, Babs Rounsevell MBE, to see how their support programmes, based on agriculture and the great outdoors, help people with both their mental and physical wellbeing.
Babs Rounsevell MBE founded CHAOS Farm in 2014, which stands for “community helping all of society.” She realised the importance of these critical services in the community.
But viewers were not impressed with the episode and complained to the BBC and branded it “unwatchable woke rubbish” as they took to Twitter to vent their frustration.
One wrote: “What on earth has the BBC done to Countryfile? As country dwellers ourselves, we used to enjoy Countryfile, but now it has morphed into unwatchable woke rubbish. Not going to watch another episode or pay the teletax anymore!”
Another added: “what’s happened to Countryfile? It used to be a pleasant programme about the countryside. Now it seems to be all about mental health, suicide attempts and unhappy farmers. Can’t we have something uplifting?”
A third penned: “Think this has all got a bit much for tonight.”
A fourth raged: “Absolute Tosh… Couple of wealthy people with horses devise a way to get the government pay for their upkeep.”
A fifth fumed: “The BBC lies so much that every week is Mental Health Week.”
Elsewhere on the farm, Charlotte met equine therapist Penny Tempest to discover how the gentle presence of horses can help with mental health, and then joined the farm’s ‘Men Outside’ group, which offers peer-to-peer support for men struggling with their mental wellbeing.
Charlotte also travelled to the north Cornwall coast to see how surfing can help young people cope with stress and anxiety.
Marathon runner and champion for diversity and inclusion in the countryside, Haroon Mota, also went hiking in Snowdonia, exploring why the great outdoors is so important to him and his mental wellbeing.
Meanwhile, Datshiane Navanayagam investigated the impact that debt is having on our farmers, and Adam looked at how women in agriculture are facing up to the mental health challenges of rural isolation.
