Robbie Williams plans to create Las Vegas-style residency in Middle East

0

ROBBIE Williams will be pressing ahead with plans to create a mega-hotel in desert city Dubai for huge residency-style shows.

The former Take That singer, who has just kicked off the next leg of his European tour and is putting the finishing touches on his next album, said: “I’m building my own hotel.

“If it’s a success I will replicate what I’m about to do.

“Residencies don’t exist in Dubai, they should. I want to be the man to start that.

“It’s easier for performers to be in one place. You know they can stay in Las Vegas for a long time and have their families there in one place. When you’ve got kids, touring is different.

“It would be great to invent something for people like me where you go from Vegas to Dubai, Dubai to Vegas, Vegas to Dubai.”

In a revealing new interview, the star said he’s been working on new music.

Alongside the debut dance-music album with his group Lufthaus, Robbie has also been finalising his next solo record.

Robbie said: “The album is being produced right now.

“I am ultra-competitive, I would like it to be my 16th No1.

“Those sorts of things just stave off feelings of lack of self-worth, so there’s no great punch-the-sky moment when it happens, but what does happen is, ‘Thank god I don’t have to hate myself today. Thank god they’ve not deserted me, left me, because without them, who am I?’”

Robbie told YouTube channel Weaponised: “I have a song called Comments Section. I don’t read comments any more. It took me a while to wean off them, but I’m out.

“Occasionally I get stung because I just find myself somewhere there. I just get reminded every now and again it’s a place I shouldn’t go and visit.”

He added: “I picked out my two friends that are famous in England and I went and read the comments section. Second comment in, ‘I hate these two, almost as much as a hate that fat t**t Robbie Williams.’

“I couldn’t get away from my comments in somebody else’s comments section.”

Jess: Money not key in Ed hookup

JESSIE Ware admits her songwriting credit on pal Ed Sheeran’s tune New Man hasn’t been enough for her to give up her own job just yet.

She said her contribution to the track on his 2017 album Divide – the most-streamed album of all time on Spotify – was an honour and hopes it will mean them collaborating again.

Asked if the royalties were enough to live off, Jessie said with a laugh: “Maybe if it had been a single I’d have been able to never work again. But we don’t do it for that reason.

“Me writing with Ed at any point is a huge honour. He’s absolutely brilliant, so I hope we can do another one.

“He’s been very busy, as have I. But I am sure we will do it again in our lifetime.”

Jessie returned in April with fifth album That! Feels Good!

But despite a decade in music, her kids are yet to grasp her career.

The South London-based mum of three explained in an exclusive chat: “I don’t think they’re old enough to really understand it.

“We live near Peckham and there’s a billboard of me looking far more glamorous than I do when I’m with them.

“My son says, ‘Oh mummy, it’s you’, but it’s just like, ‘There’s Mummy on a billboard’. It doesn’t make sense to them.

“I’m sure it’s going to get weirder for them.”

Sweet idea for Sigma

CHART-TOPPING Sigma are using the chorus of The Verve’s 1997 classic Bitter Sweet Symphony for their new single.

The electronic duo have used it on a song called Adrenaline Rush, which is due out in the coming weeks.

The Verve’s version narrowly missed out on the No1 spot when it came out, pipped to the post by Puff Daddy and Faith Evans’ I’ll Be Missing You.

Sigma’s track features vocals from up-and-coming singer Morgan.

The instantly recognisable strings were first heard on the Rolling Stones’ 1965 single The Last Time, which topped the UK charts.

Last year, Netflix revived the song with a haunting rework for series five of The Crown.

That tune certainly has some staying power.

Beyonce’s Blue boast

BEYONCE paid tribute to her daughter Blue Ivy before taking to the stage in London last night.

She jetted into the capital from Paris with her and husband Jay- Z before kicking off a five-night mini-residency at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Blue made a surprise appearance at Bey’s celeb-packed French shows over the weekend, performing in a silver outfit midway through the set.

Sharing a series of images and videos of the youngster’s moves on Instagram, Beyonce said: “My beautiful first born. I’m so proud and thankful to be your mama.

“You bring us so much joy, my sweet angel.”

Clearly talent runs in the family.

BACCHANALIA in London’s Mayfair is fast becoming the trendiest celeb hotspot.

The restaurant has been visited by Poppy Delevigne, Maya Jama and Naomi Campbell.

Kim Kardashian’s pal Jonathan Cheban, Aka Foodgod, was spied there last week, too.

Lizzo goes full bottle

LIZZO went for the laces and leather look as she made history at Bottle-Rock Napa Valley.

She wore this skin-tight catsuit at the Californian bash, becoming the first black artist to headline the decade old festival.

Lizzo will fly to the UK next month to play Glastonbury, following an epic set at Worthy Farm in 2019.

Also performing at Bottle Rock was Lil Nas, who raided the dressing up box too.

He went shirtless in a metalic skirt and blue choker, completing the outfit with an inflatable bulls head around his waist.

Rita digs diary

RITA Ora says she has “grown up” since recording her last album.

Her upcoming third record You And I started life as a diary.

Rita said: “Over the past few years, I’ve just grown up. My life evolved. I started journaling and those journals turned into songs. If you’re being vulnerable with your songs you have to be honest.

“That is the magic. Diving into songwriting with this album has been an eye opener.”

Queens of the castle

QUEENS Of The Stone Age have all but confirmed they will play this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

The American rockers, led by Josh Homme took to Instagram to share three locations – Halifax, Margate and Cardiff.

The group have sold-out shows next month at all three.

But sending fans a spin, they also uploaded a fourth spot, Castle Cary, the Somerset town close to festival venue Worthy Farm.

Couple that with the fact they have a convenient gap in their tour around the festival, my money is on a not-so-secret surprise set taking place over the Glastonbury weekend.

Loreen has third vision

TWO-time Eurovision winner Loreen isn’t ruling out trying for a hat-trick.

The Swedish singer won this month with her tune Tattoo, having also triumphed in 2012 with Euphoria – and said she would return if it felt right.

Loreen who will embark on a headline tour in November, said: “It hasn’t crossed my mind but sometimes you think you know what life is going to give you and what direction you’re going. But really you can’t control s**t.

“If 11 years from now the energy flows, everybody is vibing with it including myself, then yeah. It’s all about that. That’s the reason I said yes this time.”

The only other person to rack up that many success stories at the contest is Ireland’s Johnny Logan, who topped the leaderboard in 1980 and 1987, and also wrote Linda Martin’s winning entry Why Me? in 1992.

Mae is thigh ‘n mighty

MAE Miller was striking a pose backstage at Birmingham Pride.

Putting those Eurovision woes behind her, she was clearly feeling herself again, by showing off a tattooed thigh, in this slashed gown.

Mae Miller poked fun at herself after an awkward wardrobe fail at Birmingham Pride

Mae, whose debut album Sorry I’m Late is out in September, poked fun at herself after an awkward wardrobe fail.

Taking to Twitter following her set, she wrote: “Birmingham Pride, I love you. My entire t*t came out on stage but if you know what, If it’s going to happen I’m glad it happened here.”

She later added: “When I said me and my girls are out, I meant it.”
