LATEEF JAKANDE ACADEMY FELLOWS VISIT LASEMA
The Executive Secretary of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy, Mrs. Ayisat Agbaje-Okunade has said that familiarization visits to key government ministries, departments and agencies, to understand the inner workings of government is an essential part of the leadership training that Fellows of the academy must undertake.
Agbaje stated this when she led a delegation on a visitation tour of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), noting that the visit is particularly important so that there can be a better understanding of emergency response and disaster management at all levels of government in the State.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Femi Oke-Osayintolu, while receiving the delegation, said it was a privilege to explain the blueprint of emergency response and disaster management, which are part of the mandate of the agency, established after the 2002 Idumagbo blast and has since, operated on the cardinal pillars of rescue, partnership, risk-assessment, critical response, prioritisation and customer-centric dedication.
Dr. Olatunde Akinsanya, Director Operations, LASEMA, who took the delegation on a guided tour of the facilities revealed that LASEMA through its cross-cutting use of technology can meet global standards in emergency management.
A member of the delegation, Mr. Stephen Onah while commending LASEMA for having the best emergency infrastructure in the country, noted that it would be great if such, is also replicated at the grassroots level.
