Swell arrives right on schedule
Hello Friends,
Chest-plus sets were filling into the point by 0700 this morning and the crew were on it. Out at sea the swell was 1.9 metres at close to 17 seconds apart and coming from 165°. That meant solid chest to head high plus sets at the point and mostly unmakeable shutdowns along the beach. Tide was coming into the very full 1.9 metre high at 0905. It’ll drain out to the 0.3 metre low at 1550. Wind was coming from the NE at 5-8 kts as of 0730.
The forecast is for the NE wind to pick up into the 15-20 kt range by midday. At the same time the swell’s expected to gradually fade as the long-period component gradually disappears from the mix. With any luck there’ll still be a few sets for the early tomorrow.
Beyond that it currently looks like mostly short period NE wind bump as we get into the weekend.
Go well with your Wednesday everyone!
Weather Situation
A high pressure system with its centre over southern Bight is shifting eastwards while extending a ridge towards eastern New South Wales, directing northeasterly winds along the coast. The high will remain dominant for the next day or two, with northeasterly winds persisting until the next trough brings a southerly change along the southern and central parts of the coast on Thursday. Winds will turn northeasterly again on Friday as the trough heads north and weakens, then the next southerly wind change will sweep across the coast during the weekend.
Forecast for Wednesday until midnight
