Ronna McDaniel says she's 'hard at work' as rumors circulate of RNC ouster: report
Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said she's "still hard at work" as rumors of a potential Republican National Committee ouster circulate, according to a new report.
NBC News reported Wednesday that she sent fellow members an email assuring them she would continue in her position for the time being.
"I am still hard at work as RNC Chairwoman and building a machine that will elect republicans up and down the ballot in November,” read the message two members reportedly shared with NBC News. “I am currently on the road fundraising, we’re staffing up with staff on the ground in 15 states."
Sources told NBC News she could could exit the party after South Carolina.
The New York Times reported Tuesday evening that McDaniel was stepping down after the primary, but NBC said that they couldn't confirm that. There were two sources who said that the report was incorrect and the RNC agreed that no decision had been made.
McDaniel's chief of staff announced his resignation this week, though it was a planned move, former RNC communications director Doug Heye told MSNBC.
