I didn’t want to pay £3k rent to live in one of the world’s most expensive cities – so moved into a van & save instead
A YOUNG woman has revealed that she lives right next to the sea and doesn’t pay a penny in rent.
Abbe Minor, who described herself as a ‘chaotic blonde who builds vans’, is currently living in San Diego in a van.
She explained that thanks to life on the road, she is not only financially free, but she’s also free to spend time travelling too.
Posting on social media, Abbe shared the three reasons why she loves living on wheels.
Abbe uploaded her clip with the caption ‘This is what freedom feels like!’, as she said: “Here are three reasons why living in a van just makes sense.”
Saving cash
Abbe explained that she loves living in a van, as she saves thousands of pounds every month on rent.
She revealed: “For one, I get to live rent-free next to the ocean in one of the most expensive US cities.”
Abbe then shared a look at the rent prices where she is currently based, by Mission Beach, with rents ranging from $2,100 [£1,662] to $4,000 [£3,166].
To this, she added: “I mean, look at the prices for single bedrooms in my area. I’ll pass.”
Free to be flexible
Not only does Abbe not have to spend her money on rent, but she also has the flexibility to move around too.
The young woman continued: “Reason two is that you can literally move wherever you want, whenever you want.
“Like the desert, the forest, the beach, or just your favourite local park.”
Take back control
Finally, Abbe explained that living in her van has enabled her to increase the control over her life.
She concluded: “Which brings me to my last reason – this lifestyle opens a door to complete control over your own time.
“Without the financial pressure of a house, you can pretty much do whatever you want.
“And all of the alone time is nice too.”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @abbeminor, has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly gone viral and has since amassed a staggering 4.8 million views.
That’s literally my dream
