I’m a pro-cleaner & here’s 3 mistakes people make in their home – including the toilet bleach rule everyone ignores
ACCORDING to a professional cleaner, we have been making three big mistakes when cleaning our homes.
So if you want your home to be spick and span, without the faff, you’ll need to listen up and take notes.
She also stressed the importance of reading instructions on cleaning products[/caption]Kellsie Zapata, a professional cleaner from Zapatas Cleaning Services, explained that not only do you need to read instructions on your products, but you should also follow her ‘top to bottom’ cleaning approach.
As well as this, when using a mop, Kellsie expressed that you must make sure your mop is wrung out correctly.
Sharing her top tips on social media, the cleaning pro said: “Let’s talk about a few cleaning mistakes you may be making.”
1. Top to bottom
First of all, Kellsie shared the importance of cleaning from top to bottom.
She advised: “It may be tempting to clean all over the place, but that’s ineffective, and let me explain why.
“Top to bottom works because dirt and dust fall from the top to the bottom as you’re cleaning.
“So if you’re cleaning your kitchen, you would not want to clean your counters first, and then clean the cabinets above your counters.
“All the dirt on your cabinets will fall onto your clean counters. Now you’ll have to clean your countertops twice.”
2. Get reading
Secondly, Kellsie explained that the common mistake people make with cleaning products is not reading the instructions.
She added: “Did you know that there’s a certain amount of time that you need to let the toilet bowl cleaner sit in your toilet to disinfect correctly?
“The back of the bottle will tell you all of this. Per the instructions on this bottle, you want to flush the toilet first, pour your product, and then let it sit for 15 minutes.
“This will allow the product to work correctly and kill any bacteria and germs in the toilet.
“After the 15 minutes, you can scrub your toilet.”
3. Wring it out
Finally, according to Kellsie, wringing out your mop before using it is key.
She concluded: “Number three – using too much water when you mop.
“If you have streaky floors after mopping, you may not have wrung the mop head out well enough.
“If water is dripping off the mop head, wring it out again until there’s no water dripping.
“You want to pump the pedal eight to ten times to remove excess water.
“Too much water dripping from your mop can damage floors and extend the drying time.”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @zapatas_cleaningservices, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 11,100 views.
