Netflix's drama "Scoop" revolves around Prince Andrew's now-infamous 2019 interview on BBC's "Newsnight," during which he addressed his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein and allegations that Virginia Roberts Giuffre was forced to have sex with him when she was 17 years old.

The film stars Rufus Sewell as Andrew and Gillian Anderson as Emily Maitlis, the broadcast journalist who conducted the interview for the BBC's flagship current affairs program, "Newsnight."

The focus of the dramatic retelling is mainly on Maitlis, her producer Sam McAlister (Billie Piper), and editor Esme Wren (Romola Garai) as they negotiate with Buckingham Palace on getting the interview.

It also highlights the assault allegations against the prince and shines a light on his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019.

In December 2014, Giuffre alleged that Epstein trafficked her and forced her to have sex with the Duke of York.

Giuffre isn't portrayed by an actor in Netflix's "Scoop," but a photograph of her is shown. The film also ends with an epilogue that mentions that Andrew settled with Giuffre.

Giuffre isn't part of the film, but she now lives in Western Australia with her family.

The prince settled with Giuffre in early 2022, reportedly paying her $16 million, according to The Telegraph.

The money was used to support sex-trafficking non-profit group Speak Out, Act, Reclaim, which Giuffre founded with public relations specialist, Dini von Mueffling. The non-profit originally started as Victims Refuse Silence in 2015 but rebranded in 2021.

The organization's website says it "empowers survivors to reclaim their stories and bring an end to sex trafficking."

In 2020, WA Today reported that Giuffre had moved to Perth with her husband, Robert Giuffre, and their three children. She posted a photo on Instagram of the family outside their new house. The picture has since been deleted.

When Epstein's associate Ghislaine Maxwell was found guilty in 2021, Giuffre spoke to The Cut about the impact of being in the media spotlight for so long. She explained that she has been very open with her teenage children about what she has been through.

"They have friends that Google my name and say, 'Oh my God, is this your mom.' It's a lot for them to carry," she told the the outlet.

"But now they're teenagers. They're at that prime era in life where I think it's important to teach them about sex trafficking, what signs to look out for. And so I'm open with them."
