Inside Hollyoaks star Ross Adams’ surprise 40th birthday with co-star pals after he quits soap and lands huge new role
HOLLYOAKS star Ross Adams was all smiles as his co-stars threw him an epic surprise birthday party.
The Channel 4 actor, who has just turned 40, has quit the iconic soap after nine years – and already filmed his final scenes.
Ross is known for playing Hollyoaks‘ Scott Drinkwell for almost a decade and told how his decision to leave was “one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make.”
Yet he still has the backing of his co-stars, who came out in full force to mark his milestone birthday.
Ross was seen donning a blue and white patterned shirt paired with white trousers and trainers as he hit the town with his soap star mates.
He beamed in a snap with Nikki Sanderson, who plays Maxine Minniver, before cuddling up with Jazmine Franks who played Esther Bloom.
He then shared a huge hug with Steph Waring, who looked glam in a black floral dress and bright blonde cropped hairstyle.
I’m A Celeb star and Hollyoaks stalwart Nick Pickard dressed to impress in a striped shirt and blue suit jacket and was joined by his partner Sarah Corrin.
Meanwhile, Ross’ husband Phil Crusham – who he married in 2018 – was also on-hand to offer support.
Soap fans will also have spotted Anya Lawrence who plays Vicky Grant, in his party snaps, posted to his Instagram grid.
Ross also included an image showing him pointing at a huge neon number 40 sign as he held a glass in his other hand.
In his caption, the actor wrote: “As if I’m 40 though?”
One of his followers wrote: “Happy birthday Ross ! Hope you had a fantastic party xx”
A second put: “Hope you had a mega time mate!!” as a third gushed: “Happy birthday!
“You’ve been a dream on @hollyoaksofficial for us gay people! Wish you the best in every step that you take!! Love from London!”
One fan then quizzed: “I’m sorry what? 40? I thought you were like 32.”
Fresh chapter
Ross recently revealed his huge new career project – and he’ll be joined by a trio of soap legends.
He has bagged a role in the second series of hit Channel 5 drama, The Good Ship Murder.
He will play new character Colin Smallwood.
He will be working alongside former Coronation Street stars Shayne Ward and Catherine Tyldesley as they play cabaret singer turned detective Jack Grayling and ambitious First Officer Kate Woods.
The Sun also recently confirmed this week that the programme will also return for two more series and a Christmas special.
It will see the cast investigate fresh murder cases in the sparkling Mediterranean.

Fond farewell
Soap stalwart Ross had teased his new role with a cryptic post on Instagram
He beamed for the camera in a smiling selfie and wrote: “Appreciation post! I’m feeling so overwhelmed by all the love and support pouring in!
“You guys have really helped to anchor me as the tide turns and I bid farewell to Hollyoaks.
“But fear not, I’m about to set sail to an exciting new project. Your endless support means the world to me!
Can’t spill all the beans just yet, but trust me, it’s going to be EPIC!”
