I’m Girls Aloud’s hair stylist – my tips get a salon-worthy blow-dry at home & help the band’s locks last for a concert
THEY’D been teasing fans with a potential reunion for months – and with just a few weeks left until their big tour, the Girls Aloud stars are doing everything to look their very best.
One of those behind the four talented beauties – Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts and Cheryl – is the girl’s lead stylist, Lisa Laudat.
Together with Shark Beauty, which are the official hair sponsors of the much-anticipated Girls Aloud: The Show 2024 Tour, the whizz shared her top styling tips for a salon-worthy blow-dry from your home and how the band’s locks last for a full show.
Tracey Scully, UK Managing Director at SharkNinja said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Girls Aloud on their tour in the UK this year.
”This partnership feels natural to our Shark Beauty brand as we expand our presence in the beauty space.
”Girls Aloud are the perfect partner to bring to life for our customers how Shark Beauty tools can help them look and feel the best versions of themselves; enhancing natural beauty and unleashing fearless energy, no matter the hair type or texture.”
With a whopping 30 shows taking place between May and June this summer, the Girls Aloud hair stylists will use the SpeedStyle, a powerful and lightweight hair dryer, the newly launched SmoothStyle, an intelligent hot brush & smoothing comb.
Another tool Lisa and her team will be using is the viral multi-styling FlexStyle to create the band’s salon quality hair looks on tour while showing fans how easy it is to recreate the looks at home.
The stars chimed in: ”Nobody wants to be sat in the chair for hours every night before a show, and the Shark Beauty hair tools have made getting ready so quick and easy, and ensures our hair stays healthy, despite the constant styling.
”We all have different hair types and textures and the tools work for all of us – they really have something for everyone.”
Lisa’s top five tips for the ultimate blow-dry without visiting the salon
For the best styling results
Always use the FlexStyle on slightly damp hair, Lisa advised.
Your hair should be 80-90% dry before you curl, straighten, or smooth with the fast-drying function.
This will help avoid breakage and damage when styling, keeping hair healthy and shiny.
Smooth & Sleek
Use the SmoothStyle on Dry Hair Mode using the integrated comb to create a salon-worthy blow dry at home.
Wrap dry hair around the integrated comb, starting at the roots.
Pull through hair, and when you get to mid-lengths, twist the brush 360 degrees at least twice using the end of the SmoothStyle to turn the brush, ensuring the hair is facing upwards and outwards to create volume and bounce.
This tool is particularly great for thick hair, second day touch ups on fine hair or to style bobs.
Curl longevity
For an extra tight and long-lasting curl using the FlexStyle, once you’ve curled a section of hair using the auto-wrap curlers attachment, spray hair with strong holding spray.
Then roll each curl up and pin into place to cool down while you style the rest of your head.
Once set, unpin each curl and run your fingers through your hair and spray again for longevity.
”This is a trick I use with Girls Aloud to ensure their hair lasts for the whole performance,” Lisa noted.

To bring the bounce
Using the SpeedStyle to create added volume and shape, use the QuickSmooth Brush attachment.
Starting with damp hair, blow dry hair all to one side of the head going over the top of your head, starting with the brush at the roots and pulling through to the ends.
Once complete, then blow dry hair all to the other side – this will give you volume at the roots.
After this, part hair and style the ends for the finished look.
To set your style and help reduce frizz, press the Cool Shot button.
To define your natural curls
Use the SpeedStyle with the DefrizzFast Diffuser attachment on towel dried hair.
Work around your head, bunching curls from ends between the petals of diffuser.
For more volume, slide the lever to extend prongs to lift roots higher.
For the best results, use low air and low temperature settings.
