A FABRIC expert has shared their top tips to revitalize your bedding with doing a load of laundry.
The easy-to-follow hacks will absorb odors, lift dirt, and get rid of any stubborn allergens.
Allen Civlak is the Director of Mary’s Kitchen Flour Sack Towels, a craft store in Ontario, California.
He shared several ways to clean your bed sheets without getting them wet.
“As the weather brightens up and the evenings become hard to sleep in, our beds are often a place where the duvet is thrown off and blankets rule,” he said.
If you have a stain that won’t come out or your bedding has developed a stench, they maybe one of these methods will work for you.
AIR OUT
The fabric expert first emphasized the importance of airing out your bedding.
On sunnier days, he suggested hanging them outside on a clothesline.
Just make sure to keep an eye on the weather.
“Fresh air and sunlight can help naturally freshen up your bedding and deodorize fabrics,” he explained.
BAKING GOODNESS
Baking soda has many uses both in and out of the kitchen.
It’s also a top ingredient in many cleaning hacks.
Civlak shared a simple remedy using the product that takes effect in only a few hours.
First, sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda across your mattress, pillows, and inside pillowcases.
Then, let it sit for a few hours to absorb fragrances permeating the material.
Lastly, scoop it all up with a vacuum.
ESSENTIAL ODOR
Another easy way he suggested to revitalize your bedding is to saturate it in essential oils.
Civlak has a cheap hack to make your pillows smell great within seconds.
Add a few drops of essential oil to a spray bottle filled with water and lightly mist your bedding.
“Some popular choices are lavender, lemon, and peppermint as they are refreshing and a welcome choice for a bedroom,” he added.
CLEAN AIR
If that doesn’t do the trick, Civlak recommended investing in an air purifier for your bedroom.
It can help remove any “lingering odors” and keep the air “clear and fresh” while you sleep.

VACUUM REMEDY
Lastly, to get rid of any dust or dirt he said to use a vacuum with the brush attachment.
Gently vacuum both your mattress and pillows with the tool to get it all off.
“This helps lift dust dirt and any potential allergens that are trapped in the fibres,” Civlak explained.
