“I’ve been trying to grow my hair for a long time and I cannot seem to get it past this point, [the] middle of my back,” she wrote.
“What can I do?”
She claimed she tried methods like using a silk pillowcase and a bonnet to no avail.
THE HAIR HACK
Another Redditor weighed in on her haircare woes, giving their tried-and-true advice.
“You have to use a hair oil,” they said.
“There’s a lot on the market but the one that’s crushing it the most is the Mielle Rosemary Mint Oil.”
The Mielle Rosemary Mint Oil is available on their website, $9.99.
“It helped me grow my hair two centimeters a month,” they said.
“Here’s what you should do: take the longest hair you could reach, pull it from the root, measure it with the same tape and try to be as accurate as you can be.
“Measure once a month after using a specific oil.
“Give a specific oil you want to try two to three months at best to show if it’s effective.
“If not, ditch it and try an oil with different ingredients. Repeat until you find one that works for your hair.”
The Redditor also added that hair growth isn’t the only thing the oil is good for.
“That oil also helped me with hair loss due to tangling,” they said.
“I would apply and rub at the scalp but also apply a little bit on the rest of the hair and it just magically detangles my hair and brushing becomes a lot easier.
“But to use a hair oil means you have to tolerate greasy and oily hair.”
HOW FAST DOES HAIR GROW?
The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) says that hair typically grows half an inch per month.
This can lead to about six inches of locks every year.
Hair growth depends on the individual, factoring in characteristics such as texture.
