‘Lovely for the money!’ Asda shoppers race to buy trending bargain that adds a pop of colour to your garden for just £13
IF you’re looking for a quick and easy way to add a pop of colour to your outdoor haven, then you may just want to listen up.
That’s because shoppers have been going wild for a trending bargain from Asda that can give your garden a glow up in an instant.
And perhaps the best part of all? It costs just £13.
One of the excited customers who managed to get her hands on the highly sought after bargain was a homeowner named Zara Parry.
Taking to money-saving Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, she posted a snap of the popular ‘flamino salix outdoor plant’ and notified other social media users: “Asda’s flamingo trees are in.”
The instructions advise it requires full sun or partial shade, can grow up to 2m and can be either potted or planted in beds and borders.
It wasn’t long before the post garnered a whopping 562 likes and hundreds of comments, with one writing: “Lovely for the money!”
Another enthused: “I’ve had mine a couple of years – they’re lovely!”
And it wasn’t just Facebook users who have been sent into meltdown over the pink-coloured plant.
A woman named Sarah @sarahshomeinsouthwales took to TikTok and urged: “I am not a gardener nor am I an expert, but if you plant anything this year…plant these.

Meanwhile, another happy customer called Rebecca @rebeccaward474 also rushed online and noted: “Been to Asda and got the trending flamingo trees.”
The posts quickly went viral, with many praising how long their previous flamingo salix plants have lasted.
“Got one in my front garden had it for 10 years plus!” wrote one.
A second tagged a friend and wrote: “I neeeeeed one of these.”
“I bought 3 last year, so nice,” commented a third.
Bulbs to plant now for a beautiful summer display

They can be planted – pointed end up – about three times the bulb depth. And they can go straight into the ground or into pots.
The beauty of pots is that they can be moved around the garden to brighten up a corner – or if you fancy a bit of a transformation.
When it comes to colour, designers suggest that you go for bright reds and yellows near your back door – which tricks the eye into making your garden look bigger.
And if you go for paler blues and pinks at the end of the garden, it makes it look longer. So experiment with different colour schemes to see which brings you the most joy.
If you fancy a tropical theme – you can go for bulbs like Crocosmia – which show off big greeny space filling foilage for months – then stun with bright yellowy orange spikey flowers later in the summer.
It comes back bigger each year – which is great and not so great when it starts to take over. Calla lilies, Cannas and lilies are also very tropical looking.
Gladioli are fabulous and showy for cottage garden feels, and not only do Peonies look fab – they come back year after year, which is great for your budget.
Dahlias are absolutely all the rage at the moment – garden influencers love them because they’re an instant Instagram hit. They take a bit of work with pinching out and supports – but are absolute showstoppers.
Meanwhile, a fourth noted: “Fantastic buy – I bought one last year cut it right back in the winter and it’s came back great.”
Another added: “I lovvvve mine! Had mine for 4 years and it’s a gorgeous shape and size!”
And one more chimed in: “I have two of them beautiful flowers in the summer.”
Elsewhere, one person advised: “Remember to give them a hard trim every winter or they’ll look awful. I’ve got two and a yearly trim keeps them looking amazing.”
