‘You killed it’ people say as stylist shows 52-year-old’s ‘upgrade’ makeover with a bit of ‘power dressing’
A FASHION pro has wowed social media users after sharing a client’s, 52, wardrobe makeover.
Finding your true style is a challenge many people face – and 52-year-old Dominika was no exception… until a stylist stepped in and gave her aesthetic a totally new look.
According to the fashion pro Kenzie (@stylingwithkenzie), the client was struggling ”with how to dress fashionable for her age”.
Some of her go-to outfits, Kenzie recently revealed in a video, included baggy shorts paired with a white vest and a T-shirt-style button-up, as well as a flowy sleeveless top with black office trousers she’d sport with black ballet pumps.
Another firm staple in her wardrobe was a simple black midi dress with thick straps and a high V-neckline that she’d wear with the same ballet pumps.
”Over the years, she’s felt confused about how to shop and lost her sense of style – afraid that taking risks would make her look ‘too youthful’.”
Ahead of the glam makeover, Dominika told Kenzie ”she wanted to dress chic and comfortable, with a bit of edge”.
But with a little bit of help, the 52-year-old curly-haired stunner was turned into a stylish fashionista who looked effortlessly put-together and hot off the red carpet.
The baggy gear was ditched and swapped with on-trend garments from the high street, including a gorgeous maxi skirt with an animal print paired with a chic cream vest and Birkenstock-style sandals.
Kenzie also introduced Dominika to accessories, including a brown tote bag, as well as baby pink frame glasses that elevated the fit even more.
Another outfit that left social media users stunned was a gorgeous burgundy two-piece, featuring a sexy off-the shoulder top and smart wide-legged bottoms.
To add the final look an extra touch, the US fashion whizz completed the outfit with silver jewellery and a stylish black purse.
There were also some more comfortable looks ideal for running errands, such as a little denim number with a stripy shirt tucked into the trousers and a belt to cinch the waist in.
Paired with the viral Adidas Gazelle trainers and a fun red bag on her shoulders, Dominika looked like she was ready to tackle the day – in true effortless style.
”I wanted to show her that comfortable outfits could still look elevated and on-trend – she loves wearing sneakers,” Kenzie said.
”I taught her how adding texture to her outfits would help create more interest.
”I also showed her how to think of clothing in more interesting ways, for example, wearing a jacket as a shirt.”
How to look chic on a budget
Fashion stylist Gemma Rose Breger, and beauty journalist Samantha Silver revealed how you can make your outfits elevated without spending hundreds of pounds.
- Don’t ever spend on designer denim: River Island ”always has such a great selection of fashion-forward jeans that follow the current trends”. The high street retailer offers a great range of sizes to fit UK 6 – UK 18, and three leg lengths – and prices start from an affordable £25.
- There are no rules for jewels: ”Pick up something at a car boot sale, or charity shop, scroll on Vinted & eBay, snap up something from the clothing section in your local supermarket when doing the food shop or check out high street clothing stores.”
- Don’t forget the pre-loved sites: With a rising number of second-hand sites, such as Vinted and Depop, there’s no excuse for not buying – or selling – pre-loved garments. Gemma, for instance, has managed to get her hands on chic Chanel sunnies for a mere £17.
Needless to say, the jaw-dropping transformation has taken the platform by storm, racking up a whopping 2.8million views in less than a day.
Thousands raced to comments to praise Kenzie for the work, with one writing: ”YOU KILL IT EVERYTIME. I GET CHILLS.”
Another chimed in: ”The confidence on people’s faces after you make them over seriously makes me cry 
bravo.”
Someone else wrote: ”Literally wish all older women would tap into the power dressing the way they want to would bring them, utterly magical.”
”Oh you did such an amazing job, she looks incredible and those outfits are everything,” a fourth couldn’t believe the difference.
