Take a look inside UB's new weight room for athletes
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — UB unveiled the new state-of-the-art weight room for athletes on Thursday.
The 12,000 square foot facility has been in use for a few months, but the public has been unable to take a look inside.
The facility, connected to the fieldhouse next to UB Stadium, features 18 weight training racks, a 42-foot, 17-degree turf training incline, a 1,000 square foot cardio area and nutrition areas. Take a look in the photo gallery below.
The new facility is part of the $1.64 billion that will be put into building on the campus over the next decade.
"This new performance center is the ultimate difference maker," football linebacker Shaun Dolac said at the unveiling event on Thursday. "It gives us the tools to maximize our potential in ways we could never do before."
UB's football team has gotten off to a 4-2 start this season under first-year coach Pete Lembo, with Dolac leading all FBS players in the country in tackles.
"Playing basketball, you might not think we'd be able to use a facility like this, but we're here almost every other day working out," women's basketball guard Kirsten Lewis-Williams said. "It's going to give us a competitive advantage over all the teams in the MAC."
