Duke Recruiting: Shelton Henderson To Announce Saturday
Will he be a Blue Devil?
Duke target Shelton Henderson is down to three schools - Duke, Texas and Louisville - and he’s set to announce his decision on Saturday at 2:30 EST.
A 6-6 forward who is described as powerful or a bruiser, some people expect him to choose Duke and in fact his Crystal Ball has three experts, all from the Devils Den, expecting him to choose the Blue Devils.
But that doesn’t mean he will. A native of Bellaire, Texas, that’s just a couple of hours down the road from Austin, and he’s said that staying home has an appeal. Pat Kelsey has done a keen job of revitalizing expectations at Louisville after the Kenny Payne debacle (before even coaching a game) and he might be an appealing coach.
If things go as some expect though, and he chooses Duke, it would give Jon Scheyer a tremendous recruiting class - again. With Cameron and Cayden Boozer, along with Nik Khamenia, the Blue Devils are off to a tremendous start. And there may be more to come: there are rumors that 5-star Nate Ament may follow Henderson to Durham and point guard Acaden Lewis, who is set to announce on Monday, has said that his dream team would include...the Boozers, Henderson and Ament.
Our advice, with Henderson, Lewis and Ament, is the same as always: don’t get too excited before they commit and don’t get too down if they choose another school.
That said, we’d love to see any of them choose Duke, starting with Henderson Saturday.
