FORECAST DISCUSSION:
Good Tuesday Evening,
After yet another very warm day for late November, we will see some clearing this evening, and with light to calm winds, a wet ground, and a warm and moist lower atmosphere, we should set up for patchy dense fog overnight tonight, with the best coverage in the west. Temps will only fall to the mid to upper 40s tonight, roughly 10-15° above normal.
The fog will lift quickly on Wednesday, as temps will quickly climb with southerly winds increasing ahead of the frontal boundary. We will see a round of rain by around midday, with temps topping around lunch in the upper 50s, and then starting to fall behind the rain, as the winds will pick up, and temps will fall back into the upper 40s by sunset with wind chills dropping into the 30s.
Wednesday overnight, light cold rain showers will stick around, as a trailing low will pivot toward our area. This will allow temps to fall to the upper 30s by midnight Thursday morning for our "daily high", but temps will fall to normal in the low/mid 30s Thursday morning, and barely move during the day into the middle to mid/upper 30s. As the low pivots around our state, I expect that we will have cold rain showers as the primary precip type, mixed with wet snow showers. Winds will become quite strong on Thursday with gusts possible of 30-40mph.
Since the air temperatures have barely touched freezing for an hour this fall, expect the ground surface temps to remain well above freezing during the day on Thursday. This will lead to mainly just wet roadways/driveways/sidewalks on Thursday, but some minor slush may occur on cars and in grassy surfaces. Wind chills will remain in the 20s throughout the day on Thursday.
Snow showers will be possible as the main precip type Thursday night after sunset as the low begins it turn to the northeast away from our area. We will have some light snow showers into Friday morning with temps just below freezing. It will remain quite breezy to windy late Thursday into Friday with winds relaxing a bit. Highs on Friday will be in the lower 40s as precip shifts back to cold rain just after sunrise.
Showers will taper down late on Friday, and set us up for a recovery over the weekend. Things will remain mostly cloudy on Saturday with highs in the upper 40s. We will climb back to near normal on Sunday with highs around 50. Some rain showers will return later on Monday with a warm front lifting north, and highs in the mid to upper 50s.
Temps will stay in the middle 50s on Tuesday with rain in the forecast as our next cold front pushes through and will dip temps a bit behind it later in the day on Tuesday.
