Pedestrian killed in Woodburn hit-run, driver at large
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Police in Woodburn are asking for the public's help in identifying a vehicle believed to be involved in a hit-run crash that killed a man Thursday night.
Just before 9 p.m., officers responded to reports of the crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian on Pacific Highway and Williams Avenue.
When they arrived, officers found a man, identified as 44-year-old Nicolas Hernandez-Mendoza, was found lying injured in the road.
Hernandez-Mendoza was taken to Salem Hospital where he died from his injuries.
Further investigation found a light-colored SUV hit Hernandez-Mendoza while he was in the crosswalk. Officials said the SUV immediately left the scene, driving westbound onto Williams Avenue.
