In an extraordinary turn of events, a speed breaker turned into a life-saver for a 65-year-old man declared dead by a hospital. Pandurang Ulpe, a resident of Kasaba-Bawada in Kolhapur district, western Maharashtra, had suffered a heart attack earlier on December 16. Despite being rushed to a private hospital, doctors declared him dead.

The ambulance carrying Ulpe’s “body” set out for his home, where family members, neighbors, and relatives had gathered, preparing for his last rites. However, something miraculous happened on the journey back.

According to media reports, his wife said, “When we were bringing his ‘body’ home, the ambulance crossed over a speed breaker. That’s when we noticed movement in his fingers.”

Realizing he might still be alive, the family quickly diverted the ambulance to another hospital. There, doctors confirmed he was not dead and provided immediate medical attention. Ulpe underwent angioplasty during a two-week hospital stay to address his heart condition.

On Monday, December 30, Ulpe walked out of the hospital, alive and well, much to the joy of his family and community.

Recalling the events of December 16, Ulpe, a devoted warkari (follower of Lord Vitthal), shared his experience. “I had just come back from a walk and was sipping tea when I began feeling dizzy and breathless. I went to the bathroom and vomited, but after that, I don’t remember anything—not even who took me to the hospital.”

The private hospital that initially declared Ulpe dead has yet to comment on the incident.

This extraordinary tale, where a speed breaker quite literally brought a man back to life, has left everyone in awe and has sparked conversations about the importance of vigilance and thorough checks in medical emergencies.
