‘Come on, dude’: Frustrated panel turns on CNN’s Scott Jennings over 'Saint Kamala' attack
A group of CNN political analysts quickly grew exasperated with longtime Republican strategist Scott Jennings’ repeated talking points when it came to Congress certifying Donald Trump’s election victory — four years after the president-elect refused to do the same and instead led a violent mob of supporters to storm the Capitol to disrupt the certification of the 2020 election.
The moment happened Monday when Scott Jennings appeared to relish in the day’s events, while remaining critical of Vice President Kamala Harris’ role in presiding over her former opponent's certification.
“I think before we canonize Saint Kamala, let's remember the Electoral Count Reform Act of 2022 makes it perfectly clear that the vice president has nothing but purely ministerial duties on this day,” Jennings said to blank stares from his fellow panelists. “She didn't actually certify the results of the election, that's done by the voters.”
“It was clear as day four years ago as well,” former Obama administration adviser Van Jones said. CNN’s Abby Phillip also pushed back on Jennings: “Nobody is trying to canonize her, the same thing was true four years ago, she was actually just saying it’s unremarkable, that’s true.”

But Jennings wasn’t done. He next seized the opportunity to “congratulate the Democrats.”
“This is the first election since 1988…” Jennings began to say before the panel can be heard groaning.
“He's doing this again,” former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) said off-camera.
“…First election since 1988 that a Republican won and Democrats did not try to overturn the rules on the floor of the Congress.”
“Scott, Scott. I’m only interrupting you because we heard this before,” Phillip said.
Jennings retorted by telling the host: “You’ve heard the truth before, but I thought it was worth repeating.”
Phillips told Jennings that parliamentary disputes aren’t the same thing as “taking weapons and bursting into the Capitol.”
“Come on, dude,” Kinzinger is heard saying.
Conservative commentator S.E. Cupp slammed Jennings’ take, saying flatly, “There's no comparison.”
“I know you're smarter than that,” Ashley Allison former National Coalitions director for Biden-Harris 2020 told Jennings. “I know that you're smarter than comparing what happened.”
