Skies begin to dry in Portland over weekend

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Slightly drier skies return to the Pacific Northwest this weekend as Portland braces for more sunshine.

A sun, cloud mix is expected along the Willamette Valley on Saturday as temperatures warm into the upper 40s. A stray, light rain shower or two is possible as the last of the moisture pulls out of western Oregon and Washington.

A light drizzle is possible along the coast as the final round of king tides return to the coast this weekend. Caution should be taken when visiting any beaches as high tide peaks in the mid-morning hours and last through midday.

Slick mountain passes are also possible during the early morning hours some melting gets underway later in the day. A few lingering snow showers are possible around Mt. Hood on Saturday. Another round of bluebird conditions are expected later this weekend and are expected to last through much of next week.

Another dry stretch of weather is expected across the western half of the country as a ridge of high pressure takes shape. Sunny skies are expected to push afternoon highs close to average with temperatures sitting in the upper 40s for Portland.

Clear skies will make for some chilly nights ahead. Early morning frost and freeze conditions are likely as morning lows fall into the low 30s.
