Tyson Fury chances of retirement u-turn revealed as bookies list specials of what comes next for Gypsy King
TYSON FURY is NOT expected to u-turn on his big retirement decision and fight in 2025.
That’s according to the bookmakers, who have listed some ‘retirement specials’ for the Gypsy King following his decision to hang up the gloves….again.
Tyson Fury broke the news of his latest retirement in a social media clip[/caption]Fury shocked the boxing world – and even his own promoter – by uploading a social media clip announcing he had fought his last fight.
He said: “Hey everybody, I am going to make it short and sweet.
“I would like to announce my retirement from boxing. It has been a blast and I have loved every single minute of it.
“I’m going to end with this – Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody and see you on the other side.”
But Eddie Hearn – Anthony Joshua’s long-term promoter – says he ‘saw it coming’ and with a wry smile admitted Fury is likely doing it to up his already seismic payday for the fight all heavyweight fans want.
Hearn responded: “I saw that coming. I think, if you ever want to come back and get the max you’ve gotta retire first, ain’t you?
“Someone’s gotta bring you out of retirement. So listen, if that’s the last we see of Tyson Fury, good luck to him.
“I doubt it, personally, but whatever he chooses to do much respect to him.”
But Betfair don’t see that big AJ-Fury bout happening anytime soon, making it a 3/1 chance that Fury, 36, performs a u-turn and fights this year.
Tyson Fury retirement specials
Betfair prices
- To box professionally again in 2025 3/1
- To invest in a football club in 2025 10/3
- To fight in the WWE 7/2
- To fight in the UFC 33/1
- To be knighted in 2025 33/1
Amongst the other specials, Fury is 10/3 to invest in a football club this year, while a move to the WWE is 7/2 and switch to UFC 33/1.
That UFC price is the same odds of him being awarded a knighthood in 2025 too.
Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “Tyson Fury is 3/1 to perform a second u-turn of his career and come out of retirement by the end of 2025, despite announcing his intention to hang up his gloves on Monday.
“There is sure to be a lot of speculation surrounding what he does next, with The Gypsy King 10/3 to follow in the footsteps of Ryan Reynolds and Tom Brady by becoming involved with a football club
Aside from re-entering the boxing ring, other options for the 36-year-old include WWE, 7/2, and UFC 33/1. Meanwhile, Fury is 33/1 to be knighted by the end of the year for his services to sport.”
