‘Legacy of incompetence’: MAGA melts down over Biden’s farewell address
Vitriolic anger that took over MAGA world from the outset of Joe Biden’s presidency continued through the waning days of his first and only term – and his farewell address to the nation Wednesday night was no exception.
GOP officials and political observers on the right wasted no time pouncing on Biden, filling social media with mockery and outrage as the outgoing president delivered his last speech from the Oval Office.
“President Biden leaves behind a lasting legacy of INCOMPETENCE,” Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI) wrote on X. “Bidenflation has wreaked havoc on our wallet.”
“Joe Biden mentions climate hysteria ahead of actual priorities, like border security, lowering costs, and peace through strength,” Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) told his X followers. “They never learn.”
Disgraced former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) seized the moment to take a swipe at former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, writing on his X account: “Joe Biden just gave a speech criticizing the extreme power held by a small group of people. And he called to end congressional stock trading. Take that, @SpeakerPelosi!”

Meanwhile, conservative pro-Trump actor Kevin Sorbo posted his own hot take on X: “I’m sick of hearing this ‘fair share’ saying being thrown around. Biden held office for four years and used his power to launder money into his and his friends’ pockets.”
Republicans investigating Biden’s family business dealings have zeroed in on a $40,000 check written to him before he was president. However, bank records reviewed by Poynter showed that while they show the money appeared to have originated with a Chinese business that Hunter Biden had engaged, they contained no evidence of wrongdoing and didn't show that Joe Biden knew where the money originated.
Other conservatives attacked Biden's calls for Supreme Court ethics reforms and a Constitutional amendment to clarify that former presidents do not have immunity from prosecution for crimes committed while in office.
“After saying we need to respect institutions, specifically saying the courts, Biden calls for the dismantling of the Supreme Court through Democrat driven ‘ethics reforms,’" conservative commentator Katie Pavlich wrote on X. “His legacy has been attacking and undermining the Court in unprecedented ways.”
Conservative influencer Julie Kelly called Biden “a serial liar” who “misrepresents SCOTUS ruling related to immunity while claiming no man is above the law. Except for Hunter Biden.”
Still other MAGA-supporting influencers took issue with Biden's words given his decision to award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to a billionaire megadonor.
“Biden: ‘I want to warn the country [about] concentrated power in the hands of a few ultra wealthy people,’" posted conservative media commentator Greg Price. "Last week, he gave our nation's highest civilian honor to George Soros."
