TOM’S WEEKEND PREVIEW – Jan 18th & 19th
Hi and welcome to this weekend’s preview with Royston Town FC, Royston Town Women, Royston Town Reserves and Royston Town Vets.
First up, Royston Town host Harborough Town in the Southern League Premier Central, Saturday, 3pm kick-off. Harborough will make their first ever trip to Garden Walk while Royston Town have already played at Harborough Town’s ground back in November with the game ending a 1-1 draw with Ben Stephens scoring the opening goal of the game for the Bees, with Adam Murray scoring a header in his 300th game for the Crows. Royston and Harborough were both sitting outside the relegation zone before and after the game with the Crows with 1 point clear and the Bees 2 points clear. Fast forward to the present, and now both clubs are closer to the play off places, Royston have 2 games in hand so are hoping to draw level on points, after bitter pill to swallow from Tuesday night’s draw with Telford while Harborough are still wanting to maintain their 100% winning streak of 2025, Both clubs are still unbeaten this year.

Next up, Royston Town Women host league county rivals St Albans City Women in the Eastern Region Women’s Football League Premier Division, Sunday, 2pm kick-off. Royston Town Women and St Albans City Women have both managed to play just the one game this year, with our Visitors crashing out the league cup with a 4-2 defeat to Stevenage while Royston got a 4-2 the following Sunday away at Needham Market Women in the league, Royston will play St Albans City for a 3rd time this season after 2 wins against them with Royston winning 4-2 in the league and our last meeting was a 6-1 win for the Crows with Laura Mills and Frankie Pim scoring a brace each while Emma Slater and Erin Davies getting our goals, Melanie Hall got the goal for the Saints. Royston Town are not only hoping for another win they are hoping to have their first home game since the 3rd November.

Next up, Royston Town Reserves also have a league county clash when they travel to London Colney in the Spartan South Midlands Division One, Saturday, 3pm kick-off. Neither side has yet to play this year with fixture postponements so both are hoping to get their year underway. Royston Town Reserves played London Colney already once this season with Royston winning 6-0 back at the end of October. Royston went ahead 1-0 at half time with Michael Baulk scoring before the interval then an early goal from Jack Davies doubled the Crows advantage then in less then an hour of the game Michael Baulk got the 3rd with the other 3 being in 6 minutes from Oscar Herd, Lucas Darby and Franco Ciuffa.

If the sat nav doesn’t show the football club, try Verulamians Rugby Football Club and if you miss the turn try turning off the next road as the football ground is off a busy road, then get onto Kings Road, left to the high street then back left onto the North Orbital Road.

Last up, Royston Town Vets host Welywn Village Yellow in the Herts Vets Super League Premier Division, Sunday, 10:30am kick-off. This will also be a 3rd meeting between the sides this season with the first game Royston Town Vets winning 5-3 away in the league then lost 2-0 in the Group Stage of the Championship League Cup Group Stage at Garden Walk.
