Person hit, killed by vehicle on MoPac southbound near Parmer Lane
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A person died early Friday morning after being hit by a vehicle on MoPac.
This happened on the southbound side of MoPac near West Parmer Lane. All southbound lanes of MoPac were closed for roughly three hours during the crash investigation.
The Texas Department of Transportation Austin office posted on X at 6:48 a.m. about the crash, noting the lane closures. TxDOT posted a follow-up at 9:42 a.m. that the roadway had been cleared and lanes were back open.
Austin-Travis County EMS posted on X that medics had responded to an auto vs. pedestrian crash, and a person was pronounced dead on the scene.
Austin Police Department vehicular homicide detectives also responded to investigate the crash, according to an X post from APD Friday morning.
The Vehicular Homicide Unit conducts follow-up investigations on traffic-related crashes that involve fatal or life-threatening injuries to determine if a criminal offense occurred.
The Travis County Medical Examiner's office also arrived on the scene during the investigation.
