Punters caught pouring their own £10 pints because Grand National queues were incredibly long
Racegoers at the Grand National were caught pouring their own drinks because of expensive pints and long queues.
Video footage posted on TikTok showed one man who leaned over the top of the bar to pour his own pint.
Another man then follows his example, picks up an empty plastic cup and fills it up with alcohol.
The video shows no staff behind the bar as a large crowd gathers behind it and wait for service.
Some people in the comments section saw the funny side to it all.
Dom Taylor wrote: ‘Never change scousers.’
Meanwhile another TikTok user joked: ‘Bit misleading there. Carling is actually free, cos it’s carling.’
Another person called Mrs R commented: ‘Everyone is doing it, it’s a free for all.
‘They usually have plenty of staff on.’
The Grand National has come under fire for the price of its alcohol.
Four pints of Guinness will set you back a whopping £31.20.
Meanwhile, if you want a bottle of prosecco it will set you back £46, while just a glass will cost you £12.
It is not just at Aintree where pint prices have skyrocketed.
Cheltenham punters were also left shocked after discovering the steep price of a pint of Guinness at the festival.
Despite record sales of Guinness at last year’s meet, Cheltenham organisers instead decided to raise the price of the popular stout yet again by 30 pence.
That meant a single pint of Guinness will now set fans back a whopping £7.80 – and many were clearly not impressed.
‘Daylight robbery,’ somebody under a post on social media wrote advertising the price of drinks at one stall.
‘So that’s why the punters are now going to Benidorm to watch it,’ another commented.
‘That’s disgusting prices,’ a third infuriated fan added.
It doesn’t stop there, because prices for other drinks were not much better for the wallet.
A pint of alcohol-free Guinness was only 40 pence cheaper at £7.40-a-pint.
A 330ml can of lager set fans back a staggering £7.40, while a glass of Jamesons whisky was no better at £7.30 for just 25ml.
