Abhishek Sharma’s woeful form in IPL 2025

The Sunrisers Hyderabad batter was retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL mega auction last year for a whopping fee of INR 14 crore. In his side’s previous match against the Gujarat Titans, Abhishek got dismissed after scoring just 18 runs from 16 deliveries.

Abhishek has so far failed to live up to expectations in the ongoing season

The 24-year-old opener has failed to live up to expectations in IPL 2025. In five innings, he has scored just 51 runs, averaging only 10.20. Abhishek currently appears to be a shadow of his 2024 self where he amassed a total of 484 runs in 16 matches in IPL.

14 crore gamble gone wrong for SRH?

The Hyderabad-based franchise gave away a massive sum of money to Abhishek in order to retain him. However, this gamble isn’t looking beneficial for SRH at the moment as rather than being a cornerstone in the team’s batting unit, Abhishek has turned out to be one of the side’s poorest performers in the ongoing IPL season.

Abhishek isn’t the only problem in the side

None of SRH’s top players are currently living up to their humongous price tags. Skipper Pat Cummins and Heinrich Klaasen have been decent at best while the likes of Travis Head and Mohammed Shami have disappointed so far.

SRH’s dismal performance in IPL 2025

The Hyderabad-based franchise currently sit at the bottom of the table with just 2 points from 5 matches. They are currently on a 4-match losing streak and will be hoping for a change in their upcoming match against the Punjab Kings on April 12.
