Japan's fighter jets scramble 704 times as 30 Chinese drones, dozens of Russian jets crowd its airspace

Japan's military intercepted foreign aircraft 704 times in the past year. Most interceptions involved Chinese aircraft and drones. Scrambles against Chinese drones tripled. Russian aircraft interceptions also increased. Joint drills by Russian and Chinese warships occurred in the Sea of Japan. The majority of Chinese flights were near Taiwan and Okinawa. US military will deploy surveillance drones in Okinawa.
