'It's so emotional': CNN anchors on the verge of tears after Holocaust victims are honored

CNN anchors Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown got emotional while honoring those who lost their lives during the Holocaust.

Leading into the moment reporter Elie Honig presented a package of a holocaust survivor who at just 20 days old was considered a fugitive by the Nazis.

The survivor’s, who is also named Elie Honig, remarkable story was followed by a viewing of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Annual National Commemoration Remembrance Ceremony, which was Wednesday.

“We want to share some of these extremely moving moments as they unfolded yesterday. Listen to this,” Blitzer added.

The video began with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick reading, “I saw the tattoos inked on their arms. They survived, and they reminded me of the scale of the hate that can and must be overcome. The holocaust was a failure of humanity, but as we all know, no matter how hard we try, that kind of hatred continues to exist just in many, many other forms.”

Then Holocaust survivor Abraham Foxman spoke, “[The Fact that] I am here gives me hope because I am here only because of one Polish woman who made a choice to save a Jewish child.”

After, military members lit candles, remembering and honoring those who lost their lives.

Guests who were holding pictures of children who lived, and some died, in the concentration camps filled the screen, creating the moving moment.

“You know, Pam. Pamela, as we watch this, it's so emotional,” Blitzer said.

A visibly emotional Brown agreed, barely able to get a “Yeah,” out before attempting to compose herself. “I mean, just seeing this, sorry seeing those pictures of those kids.”

“I grew up as a son of holocaust survivors,” Blitzer calmly and solemnly interjected. “So those stories were told to me as a kid growing up, and I was named after my two grandfathers, who were both killed during the holocaust. My mother's father was Wolf. My dad's father was Isaac. I'm Wolf Isaac Blitzer.”

“I love that. You're carrying on quite the legacy,” Brown said before the pair tossed to a commercial break.
