Arrest made after man falls off balcony in Albany
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Port Jefferson man has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault that took place in Albany on Tuesday, according to the city's police department. Owen Travers, 21, reportedly faces two assault charges.
According to the Albany Police Department, officers responded to a residence on Hudson Avenue near Quail Street at about 6:45 p.m. following a report of a man that had fallen from a second floor balcony. After arriving to the scene, police reportedly found an unconscious 20-year-old man with injuries to his head and legs. The victim was treated on scene before being taken to Albany Medical Center for further treatment, authorities said.
After an investigation, police determined that Travers had allegedly hit the victim during an altercation, causing the 20-year-old to lose balance and fall off of the second floor balcony. Travers surrendered himself to Albany police shortly after the incident, according to officials.
Travers has reportedly been charged with one count of first-degree assault and one count of second-degree assault. The 21-year-old was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court Wednesday morning and released on his own recognizance, police said.
