The 2025 Met Gala, themed “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” saw the women in attendance interpret the menswear-focused theme in a myriad of ways — and the footwear on display was wide-ranging, from satin mules to platform boots. Rihanna made a statement in a Marc Jacobs ensemble revealing her third pregnancy. Showing off different patterns and textures, her outfit put a spin on menswear with pieces like a cropped jacket and pin-striped skirt trailing the floor. Her shoes were a pair of color blocked black and white brogue heels with a glossy finish.
Cynthia Erivo modeled a Givenchy look for the event featuring a floor-sweeping black skirt and an ornate crystal-embellished top with ruby red stones adding rich color to the ensemble. Matching crystals were applied to the vamp of her knee-high boots, which featured corset-style lacing up the close-fitting shaft.
Sabrina Carpenter showcased a burgundy ensemble by Louis Vuitton, putting a spin on the dandy theme with a fitted cropped jacket worn over a bodysuit. Eschewing pants for the occasion, her footwear was completely visible. She wore a pair of towering platform pumps in the same red wine hue; black stitching outlined the upper, leading to a dainty bow at the back of the shoe.
FKA Twigs wore a dress designed by Wales Bonner featuring crystal embellishments and a feathery brown skirt. The look was complemented by a pair of mules from Manolo Blahnik, specifically the brand’s Lurum style featuring a sparkling crystal-embellished strap and vamp in addition to a pointed toe and stiletto heel. Shiny chocolate brown satin aligned with the swishy skirt of the musician’s dress.
Venus Williams donned a dark green Lacoste ensemble including a pleated skirt of two different lengths, a collared top and dramatic floor-length jacket. Her shoes were certainly a unique style on the carpet, being a heeled loafer with a pronounced scalloped trim outlining the silhouette. The shoes were also crystal embellished, offering a sparkle to the set.
