Tuesday discussion: Will the Warriors beat the Timberwolves?
The semifinals begin.
The second round of the NBA Playoffs is officially underway. On Sunday, the Indiana Pacers pulled off an upset, beating the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first game of their series. On Monday, the New York Knicks had an epic road comeback, besting the Boston Celtics in overtime to kick off their series. And later that night, the Denver Nuggets shocked the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of their semifinal showdown after Aaron Gordon had yet another game-winner.
Only one series is left to get underway: the Golden State Warriors against the Minnesota Timberwolves, which begins tonight at 6:30 p.m. PT on TNT.
So who you got, Dub Nation?
There are a lot of reasons to believe in both teams. The Warriors beat the Wolves in three out of four contests this year, all of which occurred before they acquired Jimmy Butler III. They have the best player in the series in Steph Curry. They have the championship pedigree and experience, and were one of the best teams in the NBA during the closing stretch of the regular season. And hey ... the lower seed is three-for-three so far to start the semis!
On the other hand, the Wolves are younger and more athletic. They’re much more rested, having had five off days following their five-game series win over the Los Angeles Lakers, whereas the Dubs had just one off day after the conclusion of their seven-game series with the Houston Rockets. They’re red hot, having won 21 of their last 26 games. And they have home court advantage.
It could go either way. Who do you think wins the series?
