Deadly clashes between India and Pakistan continue along the Kashmir border, leaving dozens of civilians dead and many more injured.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated significantly along the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed Kashmir region, leading to substantial civilian casualties and widespread displacement.

According to reports from the Pakistan-administered side of Kashmir, Indian shelling on Saturday, May 10, resulted in the deaths of 11 civilians, including a child and four women, and injured 56 others across multiple locations along the LoC.

In retaliation, Pakistan launched “Operation Bunyan Marsoos,” targeting Indian military installations. The operation reportedly struck two Indian airbases, escalating the conflict further.

The Associated Press reported ongoing exchanges of fire between the two nuclear-armed nations, with at least 19 civilians killed in Indian-administered Kashmir and 17 in Pakistan-administered areas.

Al Jazeera’s coverage indicated that 13 civilians were killed and 59 injured in Indian-administered Kashmir, while 32 fatalities were reported on the Pakistani side.

The intense shelling has forced residents in border villages on both sides to evacuate, seeking shelter in safer areas. Many have taken refuge in temporary camps or with relatives in more secure regions.

The international community has expressed deep concern over the escalating violence. The United States, China, Turkey, Russia, and Saudi Arabia have all called for restraint and urged both nations to engage in peaceful dialogue to resolve their differences.

This recent flare-up underscores the fragile nature of peace in the Kashmir region and the urgent need for sustained diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation and ensure the safety of civilians on both sides of the border.
