NBC Announced Cancellation of 'Found' Days Before Season 2 Finale
Earlier this week NBC made a number of bold decisions, cancelling several popular shows to open the calendar for its upcoming NBA content.
NBCUniversal reached an 11-year deal with the NBA with the company paying $2.45 billion per year over the life of the contract. The decision from NBCUniversal came following the success of its decision to place an NFL playoff game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins exclusively on Peacock.
Research firm Antenna estimated Peacock added 3 million new subscribers from getting the rights to that one NFL game, which cost $110 million. More than 70% of those subscribers stayed with Peacock about two months later.
With the new deal officially kicking off during the 2025-26 NBA season, NBC had a few tough decisions to make. On Friday, May 9, the network canceled five total shows: The Irrational, Suits LA, comedies Night Court and Lopez vs Lopez and one more that could be shopped to a different network: Found.
Deadline revealed the show's fate, which was announced just six days before the Season 2 - and now series - finale, which is set for May 15. When the show initially launched, Found became the top show across NBC and Peacock with its premiere episodes drawing 10.5M viewers across platforms in the first week.
After Season 1 concluded with Sir (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) escaping from Gabi’s (Hampton) basement, the second season was hit with steep year-to-year ratings declines with the latest episode reaching just over 2.2 million viewers.
