1 person rescued after vehicle plunges into Mohawk River
MOHAWK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- One person was flown to the hospital on Saturday morning after emergency crews responded to a reported vehicle in the Mohawk River, according to officials. The incident reportedly occurred near Lock 12 in the town of Mohawk.
State Police responded to the scene at about 10:10 a.m. Authorities told NEWS10 that the vehicle was at least partially submerged in the water.
Dive and water rescue teams were requested to the scene. One victim was recovered from the water, alive and conscious, and flown to Albany Medical Center by LifeNet.
Recent heavy rainfall had raised the height of the river, making the emergency response more difficult, officials said. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, per New York State Police. Stay with NEWS10 for more information as it becomes available.
