McDonald's Chef Reveals the Secret Behind Their Beloved Coffee
Coffee might not be the item most synonymous with McDonald's, but there's no denying that the fast food chain has a legion of fans of its morning joe.
Sure, the coffee at McDonald's is not going to outpace Big Macs and Quarter Pounders in popularity, but there are many folks who swear by it. If you don't believe us, there are multiple Reddit threads of people swearing by the company's brown brew.
"We’ve heard our name come up at various tables, and… It’s a sensational feeling ???????????????????? knowing the coffee at McDonald’s does that to you," says the McDonald's India blog.
As for how McDonald's has developed its distinctive coffee, chef Mike Lingo provided some insight into the process recently.
"Coffee has been on McDonald's menu since 1948, when the menu had just nine items," Lingo told Fox News Digital.
"Over the years, we've worked to perfect the blend to give it the delicious, great flavor it has today. From the selection of our beans and quality of our roast to the equipment we use, we're paying attention to all the details to help ensure the best result."
McDonald's coffee is made with "100% Arabica coffee beans sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms or farms participating in our McCafé Sustainability Improvement Platform (SIP) program," Lingo added.
"This blend is specifically made just for McDonald's McCafé," he said. "It's a medium-dark roast with a full-body fruity, floral and chocolate note."
While Lingo conceded McDonald's is best known for its burgers and fries, coffee is still a major part of the Golden Arches franchise.
"At McDonald's, we're focusing on making sure the little things are done right," Lingo said. "We have great partnerships in place to ensure that we are selecting the best beans for our blends and roast levels to bring out that great flavor."
